“Everybody Asleep” to wake up in Tehran at Eid al-Fitr

TEHRAN, June 26 (MNA) -- Director Fereydun Hassanpur’s “When Everybody Was Asleep” is scheduled to be screened at Tehran’s cinema theaters on Oct. 25, marking Eid al-Fitr (the feast marking the end of fasting month of Ramadan).

Starring Mohammadreza Forutan, Ghazal Shakeri, and Golab Adineh, the movie won the Best Film award in the Spiritual Films section of the 24th Fajr International Film Festival here last January.

The film tells the story of an aged woman named Bibi Salimeh, who finally gets her turn to go on a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca.

Bibi Salimeh, however, was informed just ahead of her departure that she had been banned from traveling due to her senility.

The film previously won a Crystal Simorgh (the Iranian most prestigious cinematic award) for the best spiritual film at the last edition of Fajr.
